Debdale dive 23rd May

Sunday's Debdale dive with the club RIB was great fun and a good introduction to boats and their handling for many attending. Thanks go out to Sid, Martin and Chris for their hard work on the day for making it so enjoyable.

Zoom talk by the Nautical Archaeological Society

On the evening of Friday 5th of March MDG will be hosting a Zoom session with Mel from the Nautical Archaeological Society (NAS), an organisation which researches, records and protects our threatened underwater and coastal heritage.

Mel will be talking about the wreck of the Primrose Hill off the coast Anglesey, as well as talking about the projects she’s been involved with and explain more about NAS.

Training restart 2021 - new Nitrox Qualifications

MDG is pleased to announce that seven of its members have achieved a new qualification: IANTD’s Enriched Air Nitrox Diver certificate, which allows them to dive using different types of gas mixes.

Needless to say, this was achieved via virtual meetups with Zoom, and that only when it is safe to do so, real life training will be taking place to put into practice the skills learnt in the virtual classroom.

MDG WhatsApp Group

Whilst we haven't been physically meeting during lockdown, MDG has been using a WhatsApp group to arrange trips and plan training sessions - following all appropriate Government advice, of course. We've also been using Zoom for monthly social drinks with the details being shared on the WhatsApp group.

MDG closed during COVID-19 outbreak

The MDG club house closed on Monday the 16th of March 2020 and will remain closed until Government guidance on operating licensed premises changes. The last pool session was on the same date. Hough End Leisure Centre is closed until further notice. Our Monday and Friday pool sessions will recommence when it reopens.

We will not be booking any try dives or planning open water dives until social distancing guidelines are relaxed.
